Why Findory Week?
Every parent wants to help their child learn.
The challenge is knowing where to begin.
With so many websites, worksheets and resources available, it can be difficult to know what is worth spending time on. Children don’t need to practise everything. They need to practise the right things, in the right way, consistently over time.
That is why we created Findory Week.
Every week, we publish one carefully designed edition containing three short practices in reading, writing and mathematics. Each practice is purposeful, evidence-informed and designed to strengthen the knowledge, understanding and habits that help children succeed both in school and beyond.
No endless worksheets.
No guesswork.
Just purposeful weekly practice that builds strong foundations for learning.
Every Findory practice follows the same learning cycle
Children learn best when they don’t simply encounter new ideas once, but have opportunities to revisit, practise and apply what they know.
That is why every Findory activity follows the same four-stage Universal Learning Cycle.
The Findory Universal Learning Cycle
Whether a child is reading a text, solving a mathematical problem or developing a piece of writing, every Findory practice is designed to help them:
Retrieve previous learning.
Practise one small element deliberately.
Apply learning in a meaningful context.
Reflect on their understanding and progress.
This consistent structure helps children build secure understanding over time while giving parents a simple, familiar approach to supporting learning at home.
Every practice has a purpose
The Universal Learning Cycle explains how children learn.
The Findory framework explains what they learn.
Every Findory Week is built around carefully chosen essential concepts, clear learning progressions and purposeful practice habits that develop the knowledge and understanding children need in reading, writing and mathematics.
Rather than completing activities for the sake of it, children are building towards the capabilities they will use throughout school and into adult life.
The Findory Framework
Reading
Becoming a strong and confident reader
Reading is the foundation for almost every area of learning.
Children who can read accurately, fluently and with understanding are better equipped to learn across the curriculum, develop knowledge independently and enjoy reading throughout their lives.
Every Findory Reading practice is designed to help children become readers who:
read accurately and fluently
understand increasingly complex texts
develop a rich vocabulary
build knowledge about the world
read widely and often for information and enjoyment
Reading Essentials - What are the five essential elements of reading?
Reading Progression - How do we develop the five essential elements from Year 3 to Year 6?
Reading Practice Habits - How do we deliberately practise the essentials every week?
Writing
Writing with confidence, purpose and creativity
Writing allows children to organise their thinking, communicate ideas and express themselves clearly.
Strong writing develops through regular practice, thoughtful feedback and opportunities to write for real purposes.
Every Findory Writing practice helps children develop the confidence to:
communicate ideas clearly
write for different audiences and purposes
use vocabulary and grammar effectively
organise and develop their thinking
enjoy writing with increasing independence

Mathematics
Reasoning and solving problems with confidence
Mathematics is far more than remembering procedures.
Children need secure understanding, fluent recall and the confidence to apply mathematics when solving unfamiliar problems and making everyday decisions.
Every Findory Mathematics practice helps children:
develop secure mathematical understanding
build fluency with key number facts and methods
reason logically
solve increasingly complex problems
apply mathematics confidently in everyday life

From purposeful practice to confident learners
Every Findory Week follows the same journey.
Children begin with the essential concepts that matter most.
These are broken down into clear learning objectives for each year group.
Purposeful practice activities then help children retrieve previous learning, practise deliberately, apply their understanding and reflect on their progress.
Small steps completed consistently each week build into lasting knowledge, growing confidence and stronger learning habits over time.
